BELTANE FIRE RITUAL - A Pagan Celebration of Love, Sexuality and Renewal
Beltane is upon us, and we are greeted with the reminder of the Earth’s enduring powers
of renewal. The name Beltane means 'fire of Bel'
Beltane is celebrated on May 1, also called May Day, is the halfway mark between the
Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. Beltane is a traditional time to renew and reawaken
our fire:
What does Beltane mean? It is a season of love and connection.
We remember that we are still in a sex-positive community, that we can still reach out,
create art, send letters, write love songs, and notice what is thriving in the world.
We commemorate these natural turning points in the Earth’s cycle.
Seasonal celebrations of most cultures cluster around these same natural turning
points.
Beltane Holy Day Writing
At Beltane, we celebrate the connection between above and below. Rain and Sunshine
pour down from the sky to kiss Earth. Together, they fertilize the seeds planted in our
garden of ideas and intentions.
A time of opening.
Arms open wide, we dance the wild ecstasy of Earth’s
fecundity. Throats open, we sing freely.
The yoni is the sacred gateway of creation, a vessel of divine wisdom, pleasure, and
power. She holds the mysteries of life, the rhythm of the cosmos, and the fire of transformation.
Within her, the universe unfolds—radiant, untamed, infinite. To honor the yoni is to honor the magic
of existence itself.
The Lingam is the sacred pillar of life, a symbol of divine strength, presence, and creation.
It carries the fire of transformation, the pulse of passion, and the energy of limitless potential.
When honored with reverence, it becomes a conduit of love, protection, and conscious expansion—
an embodiment of the universe’s primal force
As we expand into the waxing light of the sun, we fill with passion. Ignite with joy. Revel
in pleasure.
Our pulsing hearts become Beltane’s fire of purification.
We burn away all that no
longer serves.
We celebrate our relationships with each other, Earth, and all her creatures. We relish
the healing nourishment of our friends and the earth. Share this sense of deep connection
with the world, and help repair the illusion of separation. Embrace all with a curious and
open heart.
